Pancramin - bioregulator of the pancreas

Pancramin is produced from the cattle and pig pancreas. It is a nucleoprotein complex, which acts selectively on pancreatic tissue cells promoting the recovery of pancreatic functions.

Clinical trials were conducted on 78 patients with chronic pancreatitis in the latent form and diabetes mellitus in the latent form. Control groups consisted of 45 similar patients who underwent standard treatment. Pancramin effectiveness was estimated with respect to the dynamics of patients' complaints, as well as through clinical blood and urine tests, blood biochemistry, examination of duodendal content and glucose tolerance test.

As a result of clinical trials, patients with chronic pancreatitis in the latent form showed the improvement of appetite and decreased occurrence of dyspeptic disturbances. Moreover, there was noted an objective tendency towards elevation of pancreatic enzymes ( tripsin, and Ü-amilase) activity which correlated with the improvement of clinical picture.

Pancramin application to patients with latent forms of diabetes mellitus was controlled by glucose tolerance test. Prior to pancramin treatment these patients showed a typical glycemic curve after glucose loading. In the process of pancramin treatment, this test revealed gradual decrease of the glucose blood level with its subsequent normalization upon completion of treatment.

The question of insulin presence in pancramin is of special interest. The study with the aid of highly efficient liquid chromatography conducted at the Institute of highly molecular compounds of the Russian Academy of Sciences evidenced the absence of any traces of insulin in pancramin. The technology of prepared raw material from the pancreas includes prolonged stay of the initial substance in a strong alkaline media, where insulin is destroyed.

Pancramin is recommended for accelerated recovery of pancreatic functions in its acute and chronic defeat, in case of diabetes mellitus, malnutrition, gastrointestinal and metabolic disorders. Pancramin is also recommended to the elderly for supporting pancreatic function.

No side effects have been registered.

It should be stored in a dry cool light protected place.
